Reflections on the 2025 Visayas Area Business Conference

Vabc

This year’s Visayas Area Business Conference (VABC), hosted by PCCI Tacloban-Leyte Inc., was more than just an event—it was a convergence of vision, collaboration, and transformation. I feel deeply honored and proud to have been part of the organizing committee, taking on the role of Committee Head for the Souvenir Program and serving as Coordinator for Region 8.

One of my most memorable moments was introducing Vice Governor Sandy Javier before his inspiring speech. Later on, I had the chance to share lighthearted moments, including enjoying the Goracha with Engr. Efren, which made the experience all the more special.

The theme this year—Digital Transformation—hit home. It’s a timely reminder that as members of the business sector, we carry a great responsibility: to help both government and communities drive economic growth, not only in Region 8 but across the entire Visayas. Digital transformation isn’t just a buzzword—it’s the lifeline that will help businesses adapt, grow, and flourish in today’s fast-changing landscape.

The conference was truly jam-packed with valuable learning. From the Talbex Expo of Businesses, where Paula Medical proudly took part, to the inspiring keynote speakers, every session left me with fresh insights and renewed drive.

Some highlights that stood out for me:

  • Boy Abunda’s motivational presence, blending entertainment with wisdom.
  • Vice Gov. Sandy Javier of Andok’s, sharing his entrepreneurial grit and vision.
  • Ian Sanchez, CEO of Flow21 and former COO of FoodPanda, who recounted how the company scaled from just 9 employees into a billion-peso success story. His story was a masterclass in mindset, systems, and transformation.

And of course, none of this would have been possible without the dedication of my fellow PCCI members and friends—Ms. Annie, Ms. Mel, Ate Rochelle, Ms. Mitzi, and many others. The event’s success is truly a reflection of teamwork, passion, and shared purpose.

Looking back, the VABC was not only meaningful—it was fruitful and empowering. It reinforced my belief that the Visayas business community has the strength, resilience, and creativity to thrive. I am grateful to have been part of it, and I look forward to more opportunities to contribute to future conferences that will continue shaping our region’s business landscape.
